PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) - Peoria Notre Dame and Normal Community soccer played a soccer match that was both figuratively, and literally, a tale of two halves.
The Iron struck for two goals in the opening 22 minutes of the match, sprinting ahead of an Irish team that hasn't lost a Big 12 conference game in three years.
But the Irish rallied in the second half with two goals of their own, with the equalizer coming late off a penalty kick and ending the match level at 2-2.
In Mid-Illini soccer, Washington beat Limestone 7-0 and Morton cruised over Pekin 9-0. Over in volleyball, Limestone stayed undefeated with a terrific, three-set win over Washington to move to 14-0. Morton moved to 9-0 with a win over Pekin and they are set to face Limestone on Thursday.
