The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley to their practice squad, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Bentley came to the Steelers’ facility for a visit on Tuesday, and now joins the group. Pittsburgh is dealing with some injuries at inside linebacker, including Patrick Queen, who will be limited to start the week with an oblique issue.

Bentley spent seven seasons with the Patriots and is still just 29 years old. An old-school thumper, he could be the exact type of linebacker the Steelers are searching for after their run defensive struggles in the first two weeks of the season.

A Purdue alum, Bentley was a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and served as a core special teamer before being elevated to starter as he got older.
