The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens will become the permanent home of the L.A. Louver Archive & Library, a landmark collection documenting more than 50 years of contemporary art and cultural history in Southern California, the Huntington announced Tuesday.

L.A. Louver was founded in Venice in 1975 by Peter and Elizabeth Goulds, and has organized more than 660 exhibitions and 125 museum shows.

The archive includes correspondence, exhibition records, photographs, publications, and ephemera related to such artists as David Hockney, Edward and Nancy Reddin Kienholz, Alison Saar, Gajin Fujita, Leon Kossoff and R.B. Kitaj.
