ELON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two private colleges in North Carolina are set to merge. The president for Elon University, which is located in Alamance County and Queens University which is located in Charlotte made the joint announcement Tuesday.
According to its website , Elon says it is expanding through integration with Queens University. Both schools say, the merger will unify the strengths and resources of both institutions to better serve students and the community for decades to come.
The formal structure of the proposed merger will be finalized over the next few months. At the conclusion of the merger which is expected the summer of 2026, Elon will operate Queens in partnership with existing and legacy leaders.
