ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque's Environmental Health Department said more mosquitoes are buzzing around the metro thanks to recent rain, but West Nile Virus does not appear to be a major concern. As of a few weeks ago, crews caught mosquitoes with West Nile Virus in several pools of water.

They said that it has since come down a little bit, and most mosquitoes bugging people now have no evidence of West Nile Virus transmission. "Seeing those come back negative is great because we know how common those are, unfortunately, now everywhere, and really probably impacting everyone's yard now," said Nick Pederson, Urban Biology Division Manager, City of Albuquerque Environmental Health.

The city said we should see fewer mosquitoes by mid to late October.
