ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Aidan Thomas has always demonstrated that he has skills on the golf course as a star golfer at St. Pius X and a strong leader for the New Mexico State Aggies. In his professional debut, Thomas, apparently, hasn't missed a beat.

He is heading into the final round of the New Mexico Open with a two-stroke lead after a monster second round that saw him convert seven birdies and one eagle for an 8-under 64, which has him at 12 under par overall for the tournament.

Thomas never expected to be the leader heading into the final round. Not really, no," said Thomas. "I was thinking I was going to be in the middle of the pack, having to shoot a good one on the last day, but it feels good to have a lead going into the last day."
