Custom House reflects on importance of interns, volunteers

NEWBURYPORT — Looking back at a successful summer, Custom House Maritime Museum President James Russell spoke about the importance of volunteers at the museum, as well as the success of a pilot summer intern program they are now raising funds to attempt to make a year-round offering.

Russell explained that over the summer the museum welcomed in eight interns, each provided a $11,000 stipend.
