Culdesac has 24 months to kick off construction of the first phase of its project with 1,000 residential units and 50,000-square-feet of retail, which is anticipated to spur economic development in downtown Mesa.
Council last week unanimously approved a ground lease with Culdesac, also known as RN 1 Real Estate, LLC, for 19.14 acres at the southwest corner of University and Mesa drives. The 25-acre dirt parcel is referred to as Site 17.
“This project is very important for downtown’s future,” said Terry Madeksza, president and executive director of the Downtown Mesa Association at the Sept. 8 council meeting.
