Travellers in and around Mumbai will soon have a new option for air travel. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), situated near Panvel and Ulwe, is expected to commence operations by the end of September. The airport has been developed to cater to the increasing demand for air travel in the region.

NMIA has been assigned the three-word location code “NMI," as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website. Mumbai’s current international airport, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSIA), continues to use BOM. Meanwhile, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) code for NMIA is VANM.
