MILWAUKEE — Authorities in Milwaukee found six children, including a 2-month-old, locked inside a storage unit in what is described as a child abuse and neglect incident.

Officers discovered the children , ranging in age from 2 months old to 9 years old, uninjured at a storage facility in Milwaukee just past 1:35 a.m. local time on Sept. 16, a spokesperson for the Milwaukee Police Department told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, part of the USA TODAY Network. Authorities said the other children are 2, 3, 5, and 7 years old.

A 26-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were arrested after officers discovered the children inside the storage unit, the department said. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing. Download USA TODAY's app to get to the heart of news Charlie K
