Carmel leaders at odds over mayor's nonprofit idea for city festivals

Carmel City Council members are threatening to derail Mayor Sue Finkam's budget proposal amid an ongoing feud about control over city events and festivals.

Finkam plans to create a new nonprofit organization, called Experience Carmel , in an effort to cut costs in the 2026 city budget. That organization would handle the city’s nearly 50 events and festivals throughout the year, as well as market the city.
