Lothian has appointed Sarah Boyd as its chief executive to oversee the further integration of Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams. ‌

This follows the decision of City of Edinburgh Council, Lothian’s majority shareholder, in 2020 to review the governance structure of its Transport Arms’ Length Organisations (ALEOs). ‌

Boyd, who has led Lothian Buses as managing director since 2022, brings extensive leadership experience in the transport sector. ‌

As part of the reform of the wider governance structure, Lothian’s current chair, Susan Deacon, and non-executive directors, will be appointed to the board
