Tropical Depression Seven formed Wednesday morning in the Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory.

The depression was located about 1,185 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. It is moving west at 13 mph.

"A west-northwestward to northwestward motion across the tropical and subtropical central Atlantic is expected during the next few days," the NHC said. "Slow strengthening is expected, and the system could become a tropical storm later today or tonight."

If it intensifies into a tropical storm, it will be called Gabrielle.

The depression is not expected present a hazard to land over the next several days and no weather watches or warnings are in effect, the NHC said.
