Donald and Melania Trump caused a delay during their second state visit to the UK, keeping Prince William and Kate Middleton waiting. The couple was scheduled to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at 12pm but arrived late. Trump's Marine One helicopter was spotted hovering over the Walled Garden of the Windsor estate around 12:10pm, approximately 15 minutes behind schedule.
Upon landing, the Trumps were greeted by William and Kate, who escorted them a short distance to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla. This initial meeting took place outside Victoria House, marking the official commencement of the state visit.
Windsor Castle is set to be the backdrop for the royal welcome, with the royal family aiming to provide a personal touch for the President. The visit will feature a carriage procession through the Windsor estate towards the castle. Eighty soldiers from the House Cavalry Mounted Regiment formed the Sovereign’s Escort, accompanying the carriages. The Life Guards donned their iconic red tunics and white plumed helmets, while the Blues and Royals wore blue tunics with red plumes.
The processional route, which was not accessible to the public, was lined with 22 half-companies of personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, and Royal Air Force. As the Trumps made their way to the castle, they passed near Frogmore House, the venue for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding reception, and Frogmore Cottage, which was briefly home to Harry and Meghan before their departure from royal duties and relocation to the United States.
