BRISTOL, Conn. — Route 229 (King Street) is closed in Bristol after a juvenile was hit by a vehicle, police said.

The crash happened around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, between 5th Street and 4th Street. When police got to the scene, they found the boy, who was taken to a nearby hospital to have his injuries evaluated. His condition is not known at this time.

Route 229 was shut down between Bernside Drive and New Street for the investigation.

The Bristol Police Department is asking drivers to seek alternate routes. Northbound traffic can use Broad Street to Andrews Street, to West Washington Street; southbound traffic can use West Washington Street, to Andrews Street, to Broad Street.

Police continue to investigate. This is a developing story.
