BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio for the 21st Judicial District announced his candidacy for district attorney Wednesday morning.

District Attorney Scott Perrilloux announced Tuesday he would not seek reelection after serving five terms. Cascio, of Hammond, has over a decade of experience working under Perrilloux.

“For the past 12 years, I’ve stood in the courtroom every day fighting for victims, holding criminals accountable, and making sure our families are safe,” Cascio said. “As District Attorney, I will continue to do the job I’ve been doing. I’ll be a relentless advocate for justice, a voice for the voiceless, and a protector of the vulnerable.”
