MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Tropical Storm Gabrielle formed Wednesday (Sept. 17) in the central Atlantic, becoming the seventh named storm of the 2025 hurricane season.
The National Hurricane Center said Gabrielle was located about 1,085 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands late Wednesday morning. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph while moving north-northwest at 22 mph.
Forecasters expect Gabrielle to slow its forward speed and take a more erratic path toward the northwest or west-northwest over the next several days.
Gradual strengthening is possible over the weekend, but no coastal watches or warnings are in effect.
Gabrielle is not currently expected to impact the United States or the Caribbean.
