COLUMBIA, S.C. — A new storm has formed in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Gabrielle developed early Wednesday morning. It is not expected to have a direct impact on the continental United States.
While the storm is still in its early stages and not yet well organized, it has enough strength to qualify as a tropical storm. Satellite images show that the circulation is stretched out and a bit messy, with the strongest winds and storm activity located mainly on the eastern side of the system. Even though it may not look very strong from space, recent data confirms that winds are already near 45 miles per hour in some areas.
