PAWTUCKET – The Shea High girls’ tennis team picked up its first Division III victory of the season last Thursday afternoon, and it was an exciting one, as the Raiders held off crosstown rival Tolman High, 4-3, at Slater Park’s Mike Kenny Courts.
Daviana Gomes, who is one of eight seniors on the Raiders’ 10-player roster, posted a 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-4 win over Tolman senior Destiny Alvarado in their third singles match to highlight Shea’s victory.
The Raiders swept the singles matches and easily won the first two, as junior Amalia Oganesian netted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout and senior Mikha’la Campbell, was a 6-1, 6-0 winner. Winning her fourth singles match by 6-4, 6-1 scores was senior Angelina Rodrigues.
