NORTH PROVIDENCE – A year after Saint James Episcopal Church began what they call mustard-seed ministries to help the community with projects of a smaller scale, the church is now providing free self-service Narcan via a small life box.

Saint James parishioner Sarah Rocchio told The Breez e that the effort in the church’s driveway, started two weeks ago by the bishop’s committee, creating a low barrier for people to get access to the opioid reversal medication.

The current opioid crisis has taken its toll not only in Rhode Island but nationally, she stated. The medication helps drug addicts and can help those who are prescribed narcotics medically that end up overdosing accidentally, she added.
