A man has been charged with the murder of 34-year-old mother-of-two Mariah Samuels, who had taken out an order of protection against him and had posted on social media that he was stalking her on the day she was fatally shot.
David Eugene Wright, 50, of Minneapolis, is accused of firing around a dozen shots at Samuels, who was struck multiple times in the chest and torso and died at the scene on the 1400 block of Russell Avenue North just before 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Samuels had taken out an order of protection against Wright on Aug. 27. In the petition she said she had ended their relationship on Aug. 21, but Wright later pistol-whipped her, threatening to kill her.
