For generations, oysters have been served raw, chargrilled, or fried and tucked into loaves of French bread at New Orleans restaurants. And on Thursday, over 70 of those eateries will come together to celebrate the oyster industry — and its revival in Grand Isle.

Restaurants in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish will take part in OysterNight, an all-day event started by the nonprofit Chefs Brigade. Each will shuck oysters from across the Gulf Coast, including Mississippi and Alabama.

Some will feature oysters harvested by Grand Isle Jewels , a regional brand that debuted in April with a team growing off-bottom oysters on the barrier island.
