A 40-year-old man was charged with careless driving after a dump truck crushed an SUV in Guelph.
Guelph police said the incident occurred Tuesday, just after 11 a.m., when an SUV entered the intersection on a red light at Victoria Road South and Arkell Road and was hit by a northbound dump truck.
The impact caused both vehicles to leave the road and come to rest in a ditch, police said. Debris from the collision struck a third vehicle, damaging the windshield.
Police said “remarkably” there were only very minor injuries reported with neither of the drivers requiring medical assistance.
Besides careless driving, the driver of the SUV, from Guelph, was also charged with failing to stop at a red light.
