SHREVEPORT, La. — September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and preventing suicide.

KTBS 3 is partnering with Brentwood Hospital to help highlight the importance of recognizing warning signs and providing resources to those in need.

KTBS 3’s Jan Elkins discussed trends that Dr. Guy Brannon, Brentwood Hospital chief medical officer, is seeing in the medical field and the support available for individuals struggling with mental health challenges.

Brannon emphasized the importance of early intervention and knowing the warning signs, which can include changes in behavior, withdrawal from friends and family, and expressions of hopelessness.
