CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WETM) – An Elmira woman has been arrested on several charges following an investigation into an instance of welfare fraud in Chemung County.

Elizabeth Deboe, 33, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 8, on the following charges, as stated in a release from the Elmira Police Department: • Welfare fraud in the third degree (class D felony) • Grand larceny in the third degree (class D felony) • Two counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree (class E felony)

Officials say Deboe was charged with the crimes after an investigation led by the Chemung County Department of Social Services and the Elmira Police Department.
