MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis teenager is now charged with attempted second-degree murder weeks after gunfire injured a two-year-old girl at a neighborhood barbecue.

The Memphis Police Department says its fugitive unit arrested an unnamed 16-year-old boy in connection with the shooting on Wednesday.

In addition to the attempted murder, he also faces charges of reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

According to the police report, on Sunday, August 24, a fight broke out during a late-night cookout at a home on Semmes Street in Orange Mound.

During the altercation, a 16-year-old boy and a man who had just arrived at the event with his family both drew firearms inside the house and shot at each other numerous times.
