Caitlin Simmers will join many of the world’s top pros in her hometown this weekend for the Super Girl Surf Festival at Oceanside Pier.
The festival is highlighted by the Super Girl Surf Pro, a World Surf League competition and the largest all-women’s surfing event in the world.
Few surfers have a higher profile than Simmers, an Oceanside native and Coastal Academy graduate who won last year’s World Surf League championship at Lower Trestles. The 19-year-old Simmers has already competed in one Olympics and is considered one of the young stars in the sport.
