GRAND FORKS — A new project at the University of North Dakota to highlight New Americans living in the state is more important now than ever before, First Lady of North Dakota Kjersti Armstrong told a crowd on Wednesday.

New Americans filed into the Memorial Union to take part in a naturalization ceremony claiming their U.S. citizenship on Constitution Day, a day founded to celebrate the U.S. Constitution and those who have put in the effort to become citizens. While they claimed their citizenship, a video showcase was held on the social stair featuring interviews with 15 different people who have claimed their citizenship after moving to the U.S.
