MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Light, Gas & Water is exploring a partnership with an East Tennessee company to add solar panels and battery storage to meet peak energy demand and strengthen reliability.
The first step will be the installation of domestically produced solar panels on industrial land near the xAI plant in southwest Memphis.
Seven States Electric has proposed building solar on 550 acres to deliver more than 200MW of solar generation and battery storage. The land, owned by the Economic Development Growth Engine, will be subleased to Seven States. Records show that an XAI affiliate, CTC Property LLC, is also involved.
