BETHPAGE, N.Y. (PIX11) — It's one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
Now that the Ryder Cup is coming to Long Island, it's bringing with it security challenges, economic opportunities, and some of the best golf and golfers in the world.
The tournament, which runs from Friday, Sept. 26, through Sunday, Sept. 28, is transforming Bethpage Black, Golf Digest's top-ranked government-owned course in the country, into an even more remarkable course, according to PGA top brass who are organizing the event.
"It's remarkable to see it all come together," said Brian Karns, who, as PGA America's championship director, oversees the installation of tournament infrastructure. He was part of a media day at Bethpage Black on Wednesday. "It gives all of us chills," he added.
