GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County Schools named its Teacher and Principal of the Year at a ceremony on Wednesday evening.

The district's Teacher of the Year for 2025-26 is Juana Rhili , a 1st-grade teacher at Guilford Elementary in Greensboro. The Principal of the Year for 2025-26 is Eastern High School's Darrell Harris .

"When I became a teacher, I didn't do it for the awards," Rhili said. "I did it because I believe in the power of education to change lives, and because I remember the teachers who changed mine. I think about the moments that define this job, not the test scores or the report cards, but the quiet victories."

GCS gave out seven additional awards to other staff members:

Assistant Principal of the Year: Emily Stevenson , Eastern High
