SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Maine State Police have confirmed that their tactical team and crisis negotiators were at the scene of a standoff in Skowhegan on Wednesday evening.

State police were assisting the Skowhegan Police Department with a person who was barricaded inside a home on Beech Street.

No other information was immediately available.

Beech Street had closed at both ends during police response. As of approximately 9:48 p.m., the road had reopened.

NEWS CENTER Maine has reached out to the Somerset County Sheriff's Office and the Skowhegan police and fire departments, but has not yet heard back.
