BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Cornish man accused of threatening the University of New England appeared in court on Wednesday after being taken into custody the day prior.
Blake Tibbetts, 24, appeared in court on Zoom from the York County Jail. He's been charged with terrorizing, criminal use of explosives, and criminal attempt to cause a catastrophe.
Maine's Department of Public Safety said he made threatening comments about the University of New England, and investigators later found bomb-making materials at his home.
In court, prosecutors said Tibbetts had bomb-making material, like black powder, sulfur, a one-inch diameter pipe with end caps, ball bearings, and a drill in his home and in packages delivered to his home.
