NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Union members gathered on Southern Connecticut State University's campus on Wednesday to demand a "fair" contract for workers employed with Sodexo at Connecticut State University campuses, according to the union.

Food service workers with the UNITE HERE Local 217 union across SCSU, Central Connecticut State University and Western Connecticut State University have been negotiating a new contract with Sodexo since March. According to the union's statement, the company will not meet the demands for a "living wage," and negotiations have stalled.

Hundreds of food service workers picketed Sodexo in August to demand a fair contract. Nearly 1,700 letters have been sent to university leadership requesting support for the workers' demands, according to the union.
