TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The decision to transmit the City of Tallahassee’s comprehensive plan to the state prompted fiery discussions at City Hall on Wednesday.
For the past few years, city planners have worked to create a new Tallahassee-Leon Comprehensive Plan, a type of constitution for land use.
The commission decided to punt discussion of land use for at least one year during a meeting three months ago.
On Wednesday, a discussion arose surrounding transmitting the plan to the state, which prompted concern from some local lawmakers, like Commissioner Jack Porter, who thought the city would have nine more months to work on the plan.
“I can’t in good conscience... this is not what we voted on. For that reason it is a nonstarter,” she said.
