The midterm elections are more than a year away, but the ground game to get voters to Nebraska's polls is taking off.

"Voter registration was one of our main tenets of our political plan," Mary Jane Truemper, the chair of the Nebraska GOP, said.

"Our goal is to continue doing voter registration year-round, education year-round, not just when it's an election," Precious McKesson, the executive director of the Nebraska Democratic Party, said.

Truemper and McKesson both said the Nebraska State Fair was a boon for their respective parties but that more outreach is underway, especially to young voters.
