WASHINGTON —
Former CDC Director Susan Monarez told lawmakers on Wednesday that she is concerned about future vaccine recommendations, one day before an influential advisory panel meets to consider possible changes.
"I’m very nervous about it," Monarez said during her first public appearance on Capitol Hill since she was fired earlier this year. "I haven't prejudged. I don't know what will happen, but I certainly will be watching."
Monarez claimed she was ousted for refusing to blindly approve vaccine recommendations without seeing the science first.
"Based on what I observed during my tenure, there is a real risk that recommendations could be made restricting access to vaccines for children and others in need without rigorous scientific review. With no permanent CDC director in place
