JANESVILLE, Wis. (WREX) — More than 100 healthcare workers are on strike at Mercyhealth's East Clinic in Janesville, planning to bring their voices to Rockford on Friday.
Their strike comes as Rockford has had its own clash with Mercyhealth in recent months.
In July, they announced the closure of their Rockton Avenue hospital on the city's west side.
That led to a public back and forth between Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara and Mercyhealth President and CEO Javon Bea, before the hospital sold the building early September.
Now problems have emerged between the hospital system and its workers in Janesville.
130 workers at the East Clinic in Janesville have been on strike since July.
Employees hope bringing their message to Rockford will spark change.
