WASHINGTON TWP. – As the defending Macomb Area Conference Red Division champions, Merhdad Nekooger admits his Utica Eisenhower boys soccer team is not the favorite in the Macomb Area Conference Red Division this season.

Romeo, last year’s league runner-up and Macomb Dakota were deemed the favorites in the preseason.

Losing 14 total players – 12 to graduation and two starters to MLS Next Academy programs – the Eagles are not in the driver’s seat of the six-school division right now.

But at least they are in contention.
