GROSSE POINTE FARMS – When a team has a weapon such as Gabby DiVita, it’s quite difficult for the opposition to overcome.

Such was life Wednesday at Grosse Pointe South.

DiVita, a 6-foot-1 senior outside hitter and Miss Volleyball candidate, collected a game-high 22 kills and was the difference maker in the Blue Devils’ 3-0 sweep of visiting Macomb L’Anse Creuse North in Macomb Area Conference Red Division volleyball play. South prevailed with scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-18 to remain in the top half of the division.

DiVita, who has committed to NCAA Division I and Big Ten Conference powerhouse University of Nebraska who was listed as 10 players statewide on the Miss Volleyball watch list, hit at a .559 percentage with 7.3 kills-per-set and just her presence out of the court hurt the v
