Riverside’s football team won in Week 3 in dominant fashion and Nitro is coming off an emotional rivalry loss.

Between that and a lack of recent series history to draw from, no wonder Wildcats coach James “Boom” McKinney has Nitro on alert before heading to Quincy to meet the Warriors on Friday night.

"They’re a tough team,” McKinney said Tuesday of Riverside, emphasizing the descriptor. “Tough-nosed. They’re gonna give us their best shot, that’s for sure.”

Riverside (1-2) is coming off a 51-0 win over St. Albans. Though victories have been sparse in recent years – the Warriors are 7-26 dating back to the beginning of the 2022 season – those wins have been by an average of 44.7 points.
