CHATHAM — A vendor in line to undertake the process of developing a new comprehensive plan for Pittsylvania County believes community engagement is paramount.

Representatives from Line & Grade outlined a proposed agreement to the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday evening during a public hearing in which only one resident stepped to the podium to speak.

Supervisors have not yet signed that agreement for the Charlottesville-based civil engineering and planning firm to develop the comprehensive plan, which is a 20-year guiding vision for a locality.

The board used Tuesday night as a way for the firm to walk the public through the process and allow residents to speak out on it. Supervisors are expected to vote later this month or in October to award the contract.
