Burke County government and the city of Morganton are planning a community event to commemorate a year since Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina.
A documentary premiere will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Catawba River Soccer Complex. The complex is located at 110 Greenlee Ford Road in Morganton.
The short film highlights the impact of Hurricane Helene on Burke County and pays tribute to:
First responders who stepped forward during the crisis
Preparedness teams who worked before the storm struck
Residents and families directly affected by the devastation
Community members who continue to recover from the storm’s long-term effects.
