A driver died Wednesday after veering into the opposite lane on a Sussex County highway and hitting a dump truck, authorities said.

The car was traveling south on U.S. 206 in Sandyston Township when it crossed the double yellow line into the northbound lane and struck the truck, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. First Class Charles Marchan.

The collision ejected the car’s driver, Richard Dudley, 70, of Madison, Marchan said. Dudley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dump truck driver suffered minor injuries, investigators said.

The crash was still under investigation Wednesday night, and no other information was released.
