A baby girl tragically lost her life at home after her mother, who was partying, failed to raise the alarm in time. Natasha Birks was solely responsible for five-month-old Rhian Mahoney when she placed her on a sofa and began drinking vodka with a friend on the eve of her birthday. ‌

However, prosecutors argue that 37-year-old Birks did not adequately check on Rhian and failed to notice that her daughter had not woken up for her middle-of-the-night feed. By the time paramedics were called, the infant had already passed away. ‌
