YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- About two miles away from Wednesday's shooting scene, a police station memorializes the last Northern York County Regional Police officer killed in the line of duty.
Northern York County Regional Police Officer David Tome was 31 years old and had been on the job for 5 1/2 years when he was killed in a crash on Oct. 21, 2008.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, the department was investigating a fatal crash on Route 15 near Clear Spring Road in Franklin Township when a distracted driver struck Tome, throwing him over a guardrail.
The woman who struck Tome was sentenced to one to five years in prison, plus two years of parole.
