LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Lexington.

Officials with the fire department say it happened shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Winburn and McCullough.

Police say the male victim had life-threatening injuries.

FCPS officials tell us Winburn Middle School went on heightened alert for about an hour as a precaution due to the situation. The all-clear has since been given.

According to police, their preliminary investigation suggests there is no ongoing threat to the public.

No suspect information is available at this time.
