ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta police said a “suspicious rope” was found in a tree outside the APEX Museum for Black history on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 2:40 p.m., officers responded to 135 Auburn Avenue NE, the address for the museum, “in reference to a suspicious rope in a tree,” police said.

“Out of an abundance of caution,” police said their Homeland Security Unit responded to assist. “There is nothing significant to report on this incident at this time.”

Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs expressed his deep concern about what was found hanging in this tree by the museum when speaking with Atlanta News First on Wednesday evening.
