COLUMBIA — Volunteers came together Thursday for a "Diaper Wrapping Marathon" at First Chance for Children in Columbia to raise awareness about diaper needs.

First Chance for Children, a social service organization that provides early childhood programs and family resources, hosted the "Diaper Duty Day" event as part of National Diaper Awareness Week. Staff and volunteers wrapped diapers donated throughout the week.

“As a parent, it’s like I’m giving back and helping the community, so I think it’s a win-win for everybody,” said Lynne Glindemann, a volunteer at the Diaper Wrapping Marathon event.

Gay Litteken, the executive director of First Chance for Children, said the goal of the event is to bring awareness of the need for diapers in the community.
