MUSKEGON, MI - Tensions rose this week when the president of a company called the police on a city commissioner during a tour highlighting a potential waterfront project.

Mart Dock, a subsidiary of West Michigan Dock & Market Corp., is hoping to make a deal with the city of Muskegon that would increase port operations and public waterfront space.

The land swap Mart Dock and the city of Muskegon would close the Fisherman’s Landing Campground while expanding port operations at the site. It would see the further development of unused downtown waterfront space and aging port operations.

Fisherman’s Landing is a city-owned park that offers public amenities like fishing and houses a private campground. It is in the Jackson Hill neighborhood near downtown.
